David McCormick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wing Mortuary - Lehi on Mar. 3, 2026.
David Scott McCormick

1959-2026

Our loving husband, father, and grandpa passed away on February 28, 2026 after a long hospital stay. He passed peacefully after a week surrounded by his loving family.

David was born October 22, 1959 to James McCormick and Billie Mae Smith. He has four siblings; Russell, Debbie, Keith and Kelly. David grew up and attended school in Sandy, Utah. He had many friends that he enjoyed hanging out and getting in trouble with.

He married his sweetheart, Geri Gurney, on March 21, 1987.

David worked at General Electric Company for 15 years and worked several years with FedEx Freight as a long haul truck driver.

He enjoyed the outdoors - nature and camping. In his younger years, he had a passion for yard work and soon had neighbors asking for help with theirs.

In 2016 David suffered a spinal cord injury, which limited his ability to work. Despite his difficulties and pain, he always kept a positive attitude and helped with what he was blessed to.

David had a wonderful sense of humor. He always had a good joke and kept us all laughing. He particularly loved spending time with his family and five grandchildren who brought him much joy and comfort.

David is survived by his wife, Geri, their four children, Cody (Lynn) McCormick, Carlee (Ryan) Turner, Amanda McCormick and Tanner McCormick, and his five grandchildren, Beckham, Harper, Hayess, Carson, and Damion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

As a family we have always looked up to him for his example of determination and hard work. He will be remembered for his smile, laugh, and especially for his unconditional love. We love him dearly and are heartbroken that he was taken from us much too soon. We are grateful that he is now free of pain, is with his family and in the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by all all those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 2:00pm. A viewing will be held an hour before beginning at 1:00pm.

Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery.
