It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Marilyn Bradford Nelson, who left us peacefully on February 27, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on April 24, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah to James Dewey Bradford and Shirley Lou Blackner Bradford. She married Richard Henry Nelson April 4, 1972 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple and was a loving mother to 4 daughters.
Marilyn spent her life cultivating a love for reading that blossomed into a rewarding career as a librarian. She attended both the University of Utah and Weber State University, graduating with a degree in English. Her passion for literature brought joy not only to her but also to countless others in the schools and Universities she served.
Marilyn was a devoted wife to her husband, Richard Nelson, and together they created a warm and loving home in Utah. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she relished every moment spent with them. An avid fan of figure skating, Marilyn could often be found cheering on her favorite skaters, inspired by their grace and artistry. She also loved escaping to the canyons, especially for cookouts with the family.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Richard, her children: Melissa (Jim) Marwedel, Caroline Carr, Kristen (Spence) Cornia, Susanna (John) Carlisle, 15 grandchildren and spouses, and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandsons Michael Marwedel and Andrew Carr, a brother Perry Bradford and a sister Colleen Bradford Van Norman.
A public viewing will take place at the Lehi 49th Ward, 127 East 3200 North, Lehi, UT 84043, on February 27, 2026, from 9:45-10:45 AM, offering family and friends a time to gather and remember the incredible woman that Marilyn was. Following this, we will come together to celebrate her life during a funeral service at the same location on March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
Marilyn's warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm for life touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
