April Ann (Patten) Schutz, age 28, of
Pleasant Grove, Utah, passed away on February 20, 2026.
Born on April 10, 1997, in
Provo, Utah, April brought color, creativity, and quiet strength into the world from the very beginning. She had a gentle heart, a vivid imagination, and a remarkable ability to see beauty in the things others might overlook.
She was the youngest of nine children in a beautifully blended family and was lovingly known by many of them as "Cheeseburger."
In her younger years, she lived in Orem, where she cherished growing up alongside her three sisters and one very outnumbered brother. Most of her life was spent in Lehi, where she developed a deep love for the arts-especially music.
Inspired by her father, she gained a lasting appreciation for live performances and attended many concerts over the years. It was not unusual to find the two of them side by side at hard rock and heavy metal shows or enjoying the powerful performances of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Those moments became treasured memories.
While in school, she developed a deep love for anime, immersing herself in its art, stories, and characters. That passion reflected her own creative spirit. She had a true talent for drawing, filling sketchbooks with characters and designs that were entirely her own. Art was not just a hobby for her-it was how she expressed herself, how she processed life, and how she connected with others.
She was an avid lover of cats, especially the fluffy black ones, which she adored for their mystery and charm. Animals seemed to sense her gentle nature, and she found comfort and joy in their companionship.
She was also a passionate Magic and Pokémon card collector. In recent years, she found joy in playing Pokémon Go, using it to get outside and stay active as much as her epilepsy would allow. Even when faced with health challenges, she met life with determination and quiet courage.
She met the love of her life, Jared Richard Schutz, in October 2018. They were married on September 21, 2020, in
Provo, Utah. Together they shared over seven years of love, partnership, and companionship. Their marriage was built on shared interests, laughter, and devotion. They found special joy in hiking together and visiting several national parks, creating memories surrounded by the beauty they both loved. She truly treasured the life they created side by side.
She is survived by her beloved spouse, Jared; her maternal grandparents, Doug and Flora Harrington; her parents, Chad Billings Patten and Valerie (Barney Stallings) Harrington; her paternal siblings, Travis (Celena) Patten, Dustin (Meshel) Patten, Kelsi Jade (Shawn)
Cornell, and Mitchell (Jessica) Patten; her maternal siblings, Lisa Montague, Kim (Angela) Sundquist, and Ashley Mortimore; her twelve nieces and eight nephews; her father- and mother-in-law, Brent and Sherrie Schutz; and countless friends whose lives were brighter because of her.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ezra Billings and Ann Lou Patten, and her beloved sister, Kelcie Mae Sundquist.
Though her time here was far too short, she leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, and quiet strength. Her artwork, her laughter, and her devotion to her husband will forever remind us of the beautiful soul she was.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always.
