COAL TOWNSHIP - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Morgan Mary Purcell, loving daughter, niece and sister, on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at the age of 24 years.
Morgan was born on Feb. 1, 1996, in Danville. Morgan started her educational journey at Transfiguration School and continued on to become a 2014 graduate of Shamokin Area High School, where she was a proud trumpet player in the marching band. Morgan furthered her studies at Luzerne County Community College and Bloomsburg University, earning her Bachelor of Arts in history in the fall of 2019. During her summers off from school, Morgan was a dedicated food service employee at Knoebel's Amusement Park.
Morgan was a kind and gentle soul who had a deep affection for animals of all kinds. At family functions, she would often be found petting and playing with the family dogs. Whether it was encouraging her cousins at local sporting events, cheering on the Indians football team from the bleachers on a Friday night, routing for her beloved Bloomsburg Huskies, or following her favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles, Morgan enjoyed being a spectator and was a dedicated fan.
Morgan was an avid music and musical theater fan, who was always wearing her headphones and listening to her favorite songs. She developed a keen interest in history and became quite the history buff, after being inspired by her favorite teacher in high school and professor in college. She was a movie and video game enthusiast who frequently competed online with friends from all over the country. Morgan loved to travel and looked forward to her family beach vacation every year.
Morgan was a devoted friend, especially to her cousin, Kortnee. She had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that was guaranteed to brighten anyone's day. When Morgan entered heaven on Jan. 11, she was reunited with her grandparents, Joseph and Mary Purcell. Morgan is survived by her mother, Leslie Purcell, sister Ashley, brother, Mark, aunt, Jane Ann, uncle, Mark, one niece and nephew, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
