Stephen Shingara Obituary

SHAMOKIN — Stephen Shingara Jr., 54, of 351 Didieum Lane, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, in his residence after being suddenly stricken ill.

He was born July 26, 1959, in Shamokin, a son of the late Stephen and Barbara Grace (Nye) Shingara.

He attended Line Mountain schools.

On June 10, 1977, in Wesleyan Church, Rebuck, he married Christine Bright, who survives.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for Blue Ridge Mining.

Stephen was a member of the Wesleyan Church, Stonington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons and daughters, Mandy Basti and her husband, Matthew, of Lykens, Colleen Hayes and her husband, Andrew, of Rebuck, Stephen Shingara III, of Sunbury, Kimberly Shingara, of Trevorton, Shane Shingara, of Trevorton, and Adam Shingara, of Dornsife; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild, and his brothers and sisters, Ruthann Sassaman, of Selinsgrove, Hope Dunkelberger, of Sunbury, John Shingara and his wife, Barbara, of Shamokin, Tangerine Shingara, of Shamokin, Matthew Shingara and his wife, Cathy, of Sunbury, Faith Klingler and her husband, Kenneth, of McClure, and Rachel Phillips and her husband, Lee, of Herndon.
