Dr. Jones: I retired in the Spring of 2024 from many years of teaching and learning experiences, that without your guidance (along with the late Dr. David Bishop, who was from Rich Square, NC), I would not have done well in the field of museum and History Education at all.
Finally, the Current Scholar still in Residence in 2024 who is Dr. Freddie Parker is still continuing to teach and to do well in 2024. All three of you are/were my guiding North Star along with my parents and their parents. I hope to see all of you again someday. LJS, MA in History,1986 from NCCU. Retired K12 Educator who still cares about all of our youth from around the world today.

May Your Soul and Spirit be Blessed, and Rest in Peace and Power. Thank you for believing in and mentoring me with Dr. Jacobs, Dr. Thorpe, Mr. Nixon, Dr. Akingbade, Dr. Bishop and Mr. Ball, whom you have reunited with in Academic Glory. You are indeed ETHICAL ANGELS. Pray for NCCU and the UNC System to be Worthy of Your Contributions.

My dear Dr. Beverly, I was so saddened to hear of your passing. Godspeed on your journey to our heavenly Father’s arms! I loved working in Dr. Pratt’s office with you, Dr. Brenda, Ms. HELEN, and Myron. You were a queen, the epitome of a lovely lady. May your family and friends have double triple blessings and our Lord’s comfort, always dear dear heart. Respect, love and friendship, in Jesus’ name, CoCo

I can NEVER repay Dr. Jones for all she taught me at NCCU. She believed in her students and genuinely cared about our welfare. She was everything the University and community stood for. Soar high Dr. Jones. My heart goes out to the family.

I would like to give my condolences to the Washington Jones family in the passing of their loved one.
I was a student in her Black History Class at NCCU. She was an excellent Professor and passionate about learning. I would see her from time to time as we got older and she always remembered who I was. I will truly miss her beautiful smile and will remember all of the great accomplishments she did for NCCU and Durham.

I offer my deepest sympathy to the Jones family in the passing of Dr. Jones.
I believe that I was a student in her first class when she served as a professor at NCCU. She made the history classes interesting and alive. Always approachable and willing to help, she served as a role model and mentor to many students.
While serving as reference librarian at NCCU, I witnessed Dr. Jones as a competent worker holding key positions.
I feel fortunate to have known Dr. Jones.
May her soul Rest In Peace.

Dr. Jones was the first professor I took a class with in the History Department at NCCU. She was smart, confident, fierce, and had a commanding presence. I enjoyed my time with her in the History Department and considered her to be a role model. She was an Eagle through and through. Rest in Power and look down on the Sloping Hills and the Verdant Green.
