George Pounds Obituary

George Henry Pounds III

Buies Creek

George Henry Pounds III died at home, May 28, 2016.

George was predeceased by his parents, Gladys Brown Pounds and George H. Pounds of Jasper, Alabama and his twin brother, Jimmy Pounds of Birmingham, Alabama.

At George's request, there will be no visitation or memorial service.

George received a BS degree in Chemistry from Mississippi College and a MBA from Wake Forest University. His entire career was spent in the textile industry. In the 1970's, George was one of the thirteen people chosen to start up a new polyester plant in Shelby, N.C. The new company, Fiber Industries, became his passion and his focus for the remainder of his working life.

George is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Lynn Husbands Pounds and four daughters; Ann Lampron of Denver, NC, Amy Herman of Conover, NC, Lea Pounds Holder of Winston-Salem, NC and Meg Pounds of Cary, NC, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

At a later date, the immediate family will scatter George's ashes at a favorite place.

For the record: George ended his life the way he lived his life – with determination, persistence and tenacity.
