Dylan Bunn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral Service & Crematory - Greenville on Mar. 31, 2026.
Dylan Cade Bunn, of Greenville, NC, passed away on March 14th, 2026, at the age of 26. Dylan was an admirable son, brother, colleague, mentor, and friend. Dylan exemplified courage, a passionate thirst for knowledge, an incredible sense of humor, and above all, selflessness. Those who crossed paths with Dylan often left the conversation feeling as if they had made a lifelong friend. Dylan was truly one of a kind, personally and professionally.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Winterville Baptist Church in Winterville, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow the service at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, NC.

Dylan, son of Shirley Stancill Bunn and the late Barry Duke Bunn, was born and raised in Greenville, NC. He graduated high school from Arendell Parrott Academy in 2018, where he was known as a beacon of light among his classmates. In 2018, Dylan stayed true to his love for the purple and gold by attending East Carolina University. In just three years, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice, obtaining summa cum laude. Dylan walked across the stage with a passionate drive to keep reaching for his goal of becoming an attorney. In 2022, Dylan then attended Campbell Law School, where he continued to carry himself with the utmost integrity and benevolence. He described his time at Campbell Law School as three of the best years of his life due to the friends and mentors he was surrounded by daily.

After graduating from Campbell Law School in 2025, Dylan continued his selflessness by caring for his father during his battle with brain cancer while also studying for the BAR exam. As described by family, Dylan kept his focus on his dreams while keeping family as his top priority. After passing the BAR exam, Dylan began working at Irons and Irons, P.A., where he specialized in personal injury law. He looked forward to work and enjoyed those he was surrounded by. Dylan brought much-needed joy and his altruistic personality to the long days of legal briefs and case law.

Dylan seamlessly stepped into the role of becoming the man of the house after his father's passing. He was eager to learn and never turned down a chance to gain knowledge. He enjoyed teaching his family about law and learning about medicine from his sister, Bailey, to be the best attorney he could be for his clients. As Dylan's father always said, "Time is precious." Dylan used every second he had, encouraging others and making time for the ones he loved the most. He enjoyed traveling across the country to watch his sister compete in gymnastics in the Southeastern Conference. Dylan's happy place was Lake Gaston, where he enjoyed being with family and friends, riding his jet ski, and wake surfing. Not only was Dylan a family man, but he also injected every ounce of his heart into helping others. He used the time he had on this earth to make everyone around him a better version of themselves. Dylan will be remembered and honored for the rest of his family's lives. Dylan will forever be one of a kind.

Dylan is survived by his mother, Shirley Bunn, and his sister, Bailey Bunn, both of Greenville, NC.

On behalf of Dylan and his family, we extend our sincere appreciation to all of those who have reached out and provided support during this time.
