Joyce Strickland Bunn

Joyce Ann Strickland Bunn, surrounded by her loving family, passed peacefully at Transitions LifeCare on March 29, 2026. She was born on May 20, 1942, to Raymond Breedlove Strickland and Addie Ransdell Strickland Cash. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene (Gene) Burns Bunn Sr.; her son, Keith Allen Bunn; a sister, Alice Smith; and a brother, Leonard Strickland.

Joyce was truly one of a kind and was known for her beautiful red hair, her love for dancing, antiquing, and playing the piano, a homemade jelly and pickle maker, and the Queen of carrot cakes. Above all, she loved her family deeply and was an awesome Mother, special Granny, silly sister, crazy aunt, and fun-loving friend. Her home was centered in the Pilot Community and was always open to family and friends, where many memories were made and will live in our hearts forever, as she will.

Joyce is survived by her son, Eugene Bunn Jr. and wife, Tammy; two daughters and their husbands; Lisa Bunn West and James (Buddy) West; Tammy Ballance and Tom Ballance; seven grandchildren, Tyler Bunn, Taylar Chappell (Donald), Mary Margaret West, Brittany Mitchell (Jonathan), Kelton Pearce (Jensen), Trish Ballance, and Trent Ballance; five great grandchildren, Isabella Pyron, Maddelyn Mitchell, Kelvin Pearce, Waylon Chappell and Walker Chappell; two brothers, Lewis Strickland (Page) and Karl Strickland, sister-in-law, Sue Ray and many nieces and nephews.

Those wishing to honor the memory of Joyce may send flowers or make donations in her memory to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 W Gannon Ave, Zebulon.
