Marcia Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory - Greenville on Mar. 22, 2025.
Marcia Hardy Smith, 69, died unexpectedly on March 20, 2025 and is now celebrating her new life with our Lord and Savior.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 24 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. A private interment service will be conducted at Farmville Hollywood Cemetery following the service.
Marcia was born on January 7, 1956 in Kinston, NC. She was the daughter of Sue Hardin Hardy of Winterville and the late Jesse Thomas Hardy, Jr.
She is survived by her beloved husband Charles Benjamin Smith, Sr. of 32 years, her mother, Sue Hardin Hardy, her sister Sarita Caweizell, brother Tommy Hardy (Beth), sisters-in-law Peggy Smith and Kaye Bell, nephews Miles Minges (Shannon), Landon Minges (Bridgett), Paul Smith and Scott Smith, Tony Leone and Jason Bell, nieces Elizabeth Whitley (Taylor), Angie Leone, aunt Ann Beckman and many other special family members. Surviving members also include Landry Minges, Londyn Minges, Corbin Minges, Banks Whitley and Beckham Whitley. She was predeceased by her son Charles Benjamin Smith, Jr., father Thomas Hardy, mother-in law Lucy Smith and her brother in law Robert P. Smith, Jr.
Marcia attended Arendell Parrot Academy in Kinston, NC and graduated from Saint Mary's College in Raleigh, NC. She was employed by IBM for over 15 years and also worked at Greenville Family Doctors and also Peak Performance.
Marcia married Charles Benjamin Smith, Sr. on May 30, 1992. On March 25, 1993 their only son Benjamin was born and proved to be the love of their lives. They cherished their family trips together, especially those special times in Alaska and Treasure Cay, Bahamas. Sadly, Benjamin went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2018.
Marcia's passions were her home, working in her garden, the culinary arts and her fur baby Sam. She will be remembered as being compassionate, kind, and gracious. Marcia was steadfast in her faith as evidenced by her love for her family and others. She was a member of Open Door Church and looked forward to each and every service.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to those who have them in their thoughts and prayers and through the many acts of kindness shown during this difficult time. The family is comforted in knowing as a Christian, there is hope in Heaven and being absent from the body assures presence with the Lord.
In remembrance of our loved one, contributions may be made to Open Door Church, 4584 Reedy Branch Road, Greenville, NC 28590.
