Edith M. Smith, 85, of Blairstown, NJ, passed away on February 26, 2026, peacefully with her husband of 67 years by her side at Slate Belt Rehabilitation Center in Bangor, PA.

Born on May 5, 1940, in Benneckenstein Im Harz, Germany, she met her husband Norman M. Smith in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army in 1957 in Mannheim-Rheinau thru his family who lived in Mannheim-Lindenhof. They married on June 14, 1958. She became a U.S. citizen on November 13, 1964. She was the love of his life and will be missed by everyone. Oma had a magic personality. She enjoyed wintering as a snowbird in Naples, Florida, for 27 years and made many friends from all over the country and Canada.

She was the last of six siblings and is survived by her husband and three children, Donna E. Latulippe, Barbara L. Smith, and David N. Smith; five grandchildren, Christopher Clifton, Lindsay Gottkelf, Melissa Clifton, Erika Rogan and Aaron Martin; five great grandchildren, Coltin, Grayson, Rowen, and Maila Gottkelf, and Jorden Clifton; eight nieces and nephews, three of which are in Germany.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer.
