David Ross Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory - Greenville on Mar. 19, 2026.
David Lee Ross, 79, of Winterville, North Carolina, passed away on March 18, 2026.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the time of the service.

David was born to the late Roy Lee Ross and Pauline Ross. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and a hardworking man who carried on a third-generation tradition in roofing, building and running his own company, David Ross Roofing. Roofing wasn't just his job-it was a part of who he was, something he loved deeply and gave his life to. Known for his toughness, strong work ethic, and unwavering dependability, David was the kind of man people could always count on. He never turned his back on anyone in need and was always willing to lend a helping hand. David enjoyed playing softball from a young age and carried that love with him throughout his life.

Above all, David's greatest pride and purpose in life were his twin sons, John David Ross and Jamie Lee Ross. He loved them deeply and poured everything he had into them, leading by example and showing them what it truly meant to be strong, to work hard, and to take pride in what you do. The values he instilled in them and the lessons he taught them will live on in them forever. His love extended deeply to his grandchildren, Ashton Ross, Kayla Ross, and Colton Ross, who brought him great happiness and made him proud.

David was truly a one-of-a-kind man-strong, hardworking, and full of heart. He lived life on his own terms, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy, his strength, and his love will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee Ross and Pauline Ross; wife, Teresa Kirkman Ross; brothers, Willie Ross, Bobby Ross, Edward Ross; and sister, Judy Jones.

He is survived by his twin sons, John David Ross and wife Jessica, Jamie Lee Ross and wife Mindy; his grandchildren, Ashton Ross, Kayla Ross (Wesley), and Colton Ross; his brothers, Leroy Ross (Wanda), James Ross (Linda), Thomas Ross (Linda); and his sisters, Anne Garris, Linda Sumerlin, Paula Warren (Jeff), Brenda Ross.
