She is survived by her four children, David Landecker of Santa Barbara, Anita Landecker, Peter Landecker, and Judy Hoffman, her brother René Zacharias, and grandchildren Ariana, Michael, Tema, Aaron, Hannah, Jake, Sabrina, Sacha, Nora, Aileen and Josie. Eva Menkin was the author of Aging is a Lifelong Affair with Dr. Ben Weininger and A Moving Experience, about her youth, from Nazi Germany to France, Spain, Ohio, Michigan, to California.
A private burial will be followed by a public memorial Wednesday, May 7 at 11:30 am at Congregation B'nai B'rith, 1000 San Antonio Creek Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Santa Barbara Street Medicine, P.O. Box 3751, S.B. CA 93103.

I came to this guest book through a circuitous route - I have just read Erich Fromm's preface to the book she co-authored with Benjamin Weininger. Reading this memorial page confirms my decision to order a copy of "Aging is a Lifelong Affair", which I see was also translated into French.

Eva was my dear, dear, special friend and I am already missing her although I am away from Santa Barbara. I am truly sorry not to be at her memorial but she is in my heart where she belongs.

Eva's contribution to our little family was enormous. We shared holidays, special occasions, and get-togethers just for the fun of it. New Years Day was memorable when we gathered for brunch in her dining room with Harvey Molotch and Glen Wharton, Rita and Jerry Cushman, and others on occasion. We appreciated her interest in Tracy Phillips and Craig Phillips as they blossomed into adulthood and they considered Eva a "surrogate grandmother," always available with a pat on the back or help with a dilemma. We will never forget her generosity and kindness during the ups and downs of our lives. Eva had a way of making people feel important and that even the most casual of conversations was a chance for philosophizing and confirming meaning. We will miss her always and hope to continue a connection with the Landecker-Menkin family! Love Lois & Dennis
