Thomas Richard Judge of Newtown died peacefully in his sleep March 10, 2014 at Masonicare at Newtown. Mr. Judge was the husband of Dolores (Cray) Judge. He was born in Gloversville, NY May 28, 1933 a son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Shearer) Judge. Upon his graduation from Gloversville H. S. in 1951 he joined the U.S. Navy. He attended the University of Vermont. Tom was a fighter pilot with the Vermont Air National Guard before becoming a pilot with American Airlines. He retired from American Airlines as a Captain in 1993. Tom and his wife have lived in Newtown for the past 35 years. Tom enjoyed flying his airplane, golfing, skiing and his grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his daughter, Susan MacMullan of Newtown, his son Brian and his wife Nicole of Vail, CO and his grandchildren Sean and Sarah MacMullan, Emma and Thomas Judge; his brother John Judge and his wife Doris of Gainesville, VA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a grandson Tucker Judge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church Saturday March 15th at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown Friday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the charity of your choice.
