Belmeda "Belle" Figueiredo Fernandes, 89, of Hamden, CT, formerly of Spring Hill, FL, passed away Dec. 18, 2018 at Masonicare of Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Fernandes and is survived by her three loving daughters, Jo-Anne (Carlo) Falcigno and Judy Fernandes, both of FL and Barbara (William) Connolly of Hamden. Also survived by five grandchildren, Kelly (Jeff), Stacey, Kevin, Thomas and Ryan. Her great-grandchildren, John and Abigail were the apple of her eye. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and a beloved brother-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents, Pedro and Belmeda Figueiredo, a sister, Barbara Alfonso and two brothers, Lawrence and Peter Figueiredo. Belle was born July 1, 1929 in Bronx, NY and moved to CT in 1952. After working at Sears for many years she went to U.S. Electrical Motors. Upon retirement in 1988 she moved to Spring Hill, FL. Belle embraced retirement and enjoyed bowling and bocce, she was an avid game and card player, always looking for the win. In her downtime you'd find a crochet hook in her hand. As a volunteer, Belle worked many functions and held numerous offices as a member of the Spring Hill Lions Club where she was awarded a Lifetime Membership. She returned to CT in 2013. A Memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Her final resting place will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Alzheimer's Association. www.siskbrothers.com
