LOIS CLAIRE SAUNDERS

1931 - 2017

Lois Claire Saunders, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Plantsville, CT with her daughter by her side. Born in North Haven, CT on April 20, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Lois (Murdoch) Hall. She retired from the Hill Health Care Center in New Haven where she was a visiting nurse for over 20 years. She was an active member of the Unitarian Society of New Haven in Hamden, CT and resided in North Haven for much of her life. Lois was an activist for many community projects including the AIDS Project New Haven, and the New Haven-Leon Sister City Project. She was very involved with USNH, where she volunteered for the Waverly Program, ran workshops on making books for children and started a Memoir Writing group. Lois is survived by her devoted daughter Laura Saunders and her husband Peter Clifford in London, UK, and her three grandsons Brandon, Daniel and Timothy Clifford all of London. She was predeceased by a brother Barry Hall and a sister Barbara Hall. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 18 at 11:00 at the Unitarian Society of New Haven, 700 Hartford Trnpk. in Hamden, CT. There are no other services.
