Dorothy Frances (Costello) Pellegrino, 92, of Cheshire passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at her home.
Dorothy was born on January 25, 1926 in New Haven, daughter of the late John and Catherine Costello.
She attended high school at St. John the Evangelist in New Haven, CT graduating in 1943 and worked at High Standard as a key punch operator till 1946. Dorothy married Louis Joseph Pellegrino in March of 1946 and retired to start her family. She later returned to work in 1970 at Harold's Formal Wear of New Haven, becoming a beloved member of the office staff, ultimately retiring again in 1990 to spend more time with her grandchildren. Besides spending time with her family she enjoyed playing the piano, singing and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Joseph Pellegrino; her son, Louis II Pellegrino and her daughter, Mary Lou Pellegrino. Her sisters, Anna Sullivan, Helen Elder and Catherine "Tootsie" Montano; and her brothers, John Costello and William "Bill" Costello.
She is survived by her children, Joanne LaGuardia of Little Rock, AR, Susan Pellegrino of Cheshire, Joseph Pellegrino Ph.D and his wife, Barbara Pellegrino DPT of Woodbridge, VA, and Catherine Latorre of Cheshire. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen LaGuardia, MD and his wife, Virginia LaGuardia, Heather LaGuardia MD, Gabriella Pellegrino, Mikhail Pellegrino, Juan Latorre and Louis Latorre; and her great-grandchildren, Gabe and Genevieve.
Arrangements: Calling hours for Dorothy will be held 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., 06410. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish - St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Rd., Cheshire for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven, 06473.
