Kenneth Krueger, age 83, of Lockport, NY, passed away November 21, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Ken was the first chair of the San Diego Comic-Con. As owner of a bookstore and part of science fictions (First Fandom), he was the elder statesmen of the group of fans who started the show. As a publisher he owned and operated Buffalo Publishing Company, Shroud Publishers (for which he was best known), and Valcour and Krueger. He also published underground comics. An icon in the comic business, upon his retirement from Capital Comics, he was roasted at the famous Biltmore Hotel in LA. Ken was a World War II vet, serving in the US Army, Infantry Division. He recently had been one of the grand marshals in the Lockport Memorial Day Parade. Ken was the father of eight, Kathy Austin (Lockport), Judy Hemmerling (Orchard Park), Kenneth Jr. (Hamburg), Linda Hinds (St. Louis), Karen Barone (Williamsville), Deb Pangrazi (North Tonawanda), Peter and Andrew (Gus) (California); grandfather of eighteen and great-grandfather of twenty-eight. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia; and beloved dogs, Weenie and Sara.As per Ken's wishes, a Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 7, 2009 at 7 PM in The Woodlands Community Center, 6237 S. Transit, Lockport, NY. Rev. Robert Bohill officiating. A full military burial will be held in the spring of 2010.Visit www.legacy.com/niagara-gazette for on-line guest register.

Memories of the times I spent with Ken and Aunt Pat will never be forgotten. Ken always made one feel welcome and his sense of humor was a delight to all.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of his family during this time of sorrow.
