Barret Dalrymple Obituary

FRANKFORD -- Barret V. Dalrymple, 90, of Frankford, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at his home and the original Dalrymple family homestead (the home he was born in) surrounded by his loving family. He was a member and past elder of the Beemerville Presbyterian Church, a trustee of the Beemerville Cemetery Association, member of the Sussex County Agricultural Society, New Jersey Farm Bureau, CRAFTS of NJ and E.A.I.A.

Son of the late Barret H. and Bertha M. (Dickerson) Dalrymple, Barret was a graduate of the Wykertown one-room elementary schoolhouse and later the former Sussex High School class of 1946. In his youth he was active in the 4-H Dairy Program and the Future Farmers of America. Mr. Dalrymple was a member of the Seagoing Cowboys of Herford International, repopulating cattle throughout war-torn Europe post-World War II. He was the leader of the local 4-H Dairy Club for 30 years as well as serving on the county and state Advisory Committees. Mr. Dalrymple operated the family dairy at Wykertown for some 30 years and was active in many farm organizations such as the county Board of Agriculture, the Grange, the Brown Swiss and Holstein Breeders Association. Barret was also a director of the Sussex Rural Electric Cooperative. After farming, he was employed by SREC as a meter reader and storekeeper. Barret was also a member of Local 327 of I.B.E.W. and the Frankford Township Senior Citizens.

Barret was predeceased in life by his beloved wife, Ann F. (Trezona) Dalrymple, in 2015. Survivors include his loving sons, Paul B. and his wife, Leslie, of Frankford, and Daniel R. and his wife, Kathy, of Harrisonburg, Va. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Luke, Barret and Ruth Dalrymple and Paige Lockburner; his great-grandchildren, Orran, Innis and Imogen Dalrymple, Lilah and Sylvie Lockburner; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Church visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, concluding with funeral services at 11 a.m., in the Beemerville Presbyterian Church, 226 Route 519, Beemerville. Interment will immediately follow in the Beemerville Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton. So sorry to learn of the loss of Barret and Ann Dalrymple.

They were so pleasant to be around at our CHSE meetings at St. John's in Wharton.

A great disappointment to learn that they are no longer with us.

May God be with all the Trezonas and Dalrymples.

When someone we love falls asleep in death the memories we have of them become our treasure, may those cherished memories of a life well lived and Gods promise at John 6:40 bring you a measure of peace and comfort during this most difficult time. My sincerest condolences to the family.

Barret was a gentleman and a fine person, always friendly and cordial as well as a man that was always willing to share his knowledge and experiences. witty, but soft spoken, he was always a man that was personable and liked. We will miss Barret at Millbrook Village and we will have fond memories of Barret and Jim presiding over the goings on in the wagon shop at Millbrook Village. Fair winds, our friend. We will keep you in our thoughts. We will miss you.

So sorry to hear that Barrett has passed. Had the pleasure of meeting him last year at his house and listening to him and his cousin (my mother) Muriel Dickerson Erickson tell stories of growing up. He gave us a tour of the house that he was born and raised in. Sorry we did not make it back to New Jersey in 2018 to see him. So sorry for your loss.
