R.B. Phillips Obituary
Butch was born and raised in Redding, California graduating from Shasta Union High School. He became a land surveyor with CH2M Hill in California. He later moved to Washington state and began working for Santana Trucking. He and his wife Wilma Phillips, moved to Cl e Elum and became the owners of the Fairway Grocery. After many years, they sold the business and continued to reside in Cle Elum until his death.
Butch loved to hunt, camp and fish. His grandchildren especially remember the fishing trips to Blue Lakes and the revered "Blue Lake Special". He enjoyed a good game of cards and Mexican Train - the grandkids loved it if they could beat Papo. Butch could be gruff, but he never forgot a birthday and sent the best cards that would sometime bring a tear. He loved Wilma's cooking and getting together for family meals and after it was over, he'd whistle an unknown tune, content - we will miss that whistle.
Butch is survived by his son RB Phillips III "Buster" (Rosa), daughters Pamela (Bob) Bauer, Tammie Phillips, and stepdaughter Kelly (Rick) Winters, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Tom and sister Darlene.
He was preceded by his wife, Wilma, brother Bobby and sister Shyla.
The family would like to thank all of his friends that have helped him these last few years and a special thank you to his friend and caregiver, Dick Snell.
Remembrances may be given to the Eagles Club in Cle Elum, 220 N Pennsylvania Ave., Cle Elum, WA., 98922
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Cle Elum Eagles at 12:30. Online condolences may be left at www.brooksidefuneral.com.
