James Hutchinson Obituary

James "Jim" Hutchinson June 14, 1936 - July 30, 2023 James "Jim" Hutchinson passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023 at the age of 87. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the Sweetwater Ranch in Ellensburg, Washington.

Born on June 14, 1936 in Ellensburg, Washington to Mildred and Ivan Hutchinson. Jim was one of four children (Richard Hutchinson, Mary Matthews, Paul Hutchinson). As a child, Jim was very involved in his family's ranch. He enjoyed raising pigs and was active in 4H.

After graduating from Thorp High School, Jim enlisted in the US Army. He had many fond memories of his time in Germany.

After being discharged, Jim returned to Thorp to help his family with their business, Ellensburg Cement Products.

In 1961, Jim married Helen Haberman and together they ran Ellensburg Cement Products. In July 1980, Jim and Helen purchased Ellensburg Cement from his parents. Jim worked on the Board of Directors for the National Sand and Gravel Association and was active in the Washington Aggregate and Concrete Association.

Jim found joy in sharing his love of Ellensburg Cement with three generations of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. You would always see him proudly wearing his Ellensburg Cement hat. He always started his mornings with coffee in Ellensburg and Cle Elum, catching up on all of the local news. He continued his routine visits to the Ellensburg Cement Office, up until his passing.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen, of 62 years. His son, J. Jeff Hutchinson and daughter, Heidi Sny. Grandchildren, Haley Redlin, Briley Sny and James Hutchinson. Great Grandchildren, Brently Sny, Rhett and Miles Redlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Mildred, and brother, Richard Hutchinson.

Memorial contributions in Jim's honor are suggested to the Gretchen Weller Foundation, PO Box 1762, Ellensburg, Washington 98926.
