I worked with Al at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati 1981-83. I knew him as a man of integrity. His knowledge of the area and people could open doors that were closed. I think he thought of me a "young whippersnapper." The third week of work he assigned me to work with a photographer named Ted Holtzclaw. I assumed it would be a young white kid who I hadn't meet. Next thing I know a tall Black man walks up to me and says, he's Ted Holtzclaw. I told him wait a minute. I went back to Al and said, "I thought you said I was working with Ted Holtzclaw!" He says, "that's him," with that rye smile. He'd got me. Ted became my best friend, my best man at my wedding, and went away to soon. I know people like Ted, Elaine and Al will welcome him with open arms to heaven for a life well served.

I knew Allan as the kind man with a big smile at 9:30 mass at Saint Agnes. We would often arrive late with our kids and he would just smile and say right on time we saved a seat for you. I didn't know his WWII experience or being a leader in TV news. To me he was simply Mr. Saint Agnes, and he will be missed.

Jim, sorry to here about the passing of your father. He definitely impacted a lot of people's lives in a positive way. What a great role model for you. Carol and I are praying for you and your family at this very difficult time.

Allan White was a kind soul with a quick, sharp wit. He was the best newsman I ever met. Al could tell a story and draw a map with just the right amount of detail. He was a mentor and a dear friend. I loved this guy and will miss him. The world has lost a bright light.
