John Skarzenski Obituary
John Edward Skarzenski, 90, of Harrington Park, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Beloved husband of Jean (nee DeCrescenzo). Loving father of Janice Mierzwa and husband Roger of Morris Plains and Carol de Lyon and husband Bruce of Dumont. Predeceased by his dear sons, Steven and John. Adored grandfather of James, Jennifer, Michael, Rachel, Aaron, Benjamin and Preston and great-grandfather of Jenna, Matthew and Rebekkah. Dear brother of Vincent and Walter and his wife Mary. Also survived by daughter-in-law, Laurie Summer.
John served in the US Merchant Marines during WWII. He retired from the Port Authority of NY/NJ in NYC where he was an engineer after 35 years. He was a member of the Cresskill American Legion and Knights of Columbus Immaculate Conception Council 9021, Norwood.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Victories RC Church, Harrington Park with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2:30 - 5 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).
Those who wish may make memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.

Dear John, Jean, Janice, Carol and the rest of your family,
I am extremely sorry to hear from Brian of John's sudden passing. I had the chance to exchange emails with him only a couple years ago when Steve died. John was a peaceful, warm, person with a sharp sense of humor.
Growing up across the street from your quiet, peaceful family ((including Yuri) is a savored memory of mine.
Sudden death is horribly traumatic, I will be thinking of you all.
