Andrew Coates Obituary
River Edge - Coates, Andrew C. of River Edge on January 29, 2019. Andrew was born in Brooklyn , NY to Eugene and Cecelia. Beloved husband of Lynne Baumann, dear brother of Robert, Sheila, Maureen , Joseph, and adored uncle of 24. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Christopher.
Andrew graduated from St. Anthony's HS in Smithtown, NY, Manhattan College, and Lehigh University. He worked at Hardesty and Hanover for 44 years where he was Principal Emeritus and Chief Technical Officer. His most notable projects included Rt. 7 over the Passaic River, the Mystic River Swing Bridge, 180/Rt.19 , 147 over Grassy Sound, Widening of the Rainbow Bridge Niagra Falls, and the 3rd Avenue Swing Bridge. Mr. Coates was a licensed Professional Engineer in 11 states. Andrew was an avid tennis player, reader, and NY Mets fan. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church where he volunteered as an alter server. Family will receive friends at the Beaugard McKnight Funeral Home 869 Kinderkamack Rd River Edge N.J. on Thursday 2-4, and 7-9, pm. A mass of christian burial will be Friday at 10:30 am at St Peter The Apostle R.C. Church, then to George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery for internment.

Lynne, I worked at H&H several years ago & I remember your husband Andy as well as yourself. You may not remember who I was. My name is Cheryl... I was the file clerk. I still keep in touch with Susan Viscusi (Duffy) thru fb & that is how I found out about your husband's passing. I would like to offer my condolences & sympathy at this time. Lynne, The industry has lost a good man.
Andy and I dealt with many adversities on a
number of projects, but he never lost his progessional demenor. Proud to have worked with Andy on the Route 7 Bridge Project and many others. An exceptional mentor.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me".
