I had the privilege of sailing with Jim Bishop, starting with the American Yacht Club Spring Series in 1993, and ending with the J-44 Coastal Queen party at Block Island Race Week in 2017. He was a smart, nice, and honest man whom we sailors will dearly miss. Thank you.

I can't match Edgar Aronson's Right-on words.
Eddie was invaluable to Jim and Caithness. They paid for finding the Caithness steam; Eddie took the steam finder Charles Condy to Scotland unto the tens of millions needed for the generators.

I just learned of Jim's passing today. He sailed with me for many years-Lightings, Star Boats, & then Ocean Racing. We completed 5 Newport to Bermuda Races. We would have done more but my job required my time. He was a fine gentleman & a life long friend. He will be greatly missed!!!

Had the honor of sailing with Jim to Bermuda on his yacht Mokuahi. He did an excellent job during the race and hosted a spectacular party for the crew afterwards.
Will always remember when during the middle of a stormy night on the helm he was looking for his cigar on the deck and mistakenly placed a flying fish in his mouth instead of the soggy cigar. Unfazed, he said the fish was almost as good as his cigar!

A proper sports man in the old sense of the word. A credit to the International One Class . I and my crew enjoyed smoking his cigars when he left them on Aerial in Bermuda on boat hand over when we found them . Nice man .Fraser Mills

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Bishop in the late 80s, we were trying to finance one of his desert
Geo-Thermal energy sites. I also had the pleasure of trap shooting with him and his family at the Campfire Club. A great man a natural born leader a class act . My sincere condolences RIP
