Robert Francis Ambrose

Robert Francis Ambrose (February 22, 1933). Father, lawyer, outdoor enthusiast, and longtime supporter of the arts, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018. The son of Joseph and Jean Marie Ambrose, Robert was raised with his brother, Joseph, in Brooklyn and Queens. He graduated from Columbia College in 1954. Robert graduated from Harvard Law School in 1957 and was admitted to the New York Bar In 1958. Over his career, he practiced at a number of New York law firms and was a Partner at Barrett Smith Shapiro Simon and Armstrong, Lord Day & Lord, Barrett Smith, as well as K&L Gates, most recently retiring Of Counsel at the age of 84. An avid outdoor enthusiast Robert was an active supporter of Ridgewood-Glen Rock Council Boy Scout Troop 7. He was a loving father to sons Jonathan, Paul, and Thomas and his wife Ivy from his marriage to Diana Whitehead. Bob remarried to Evelyn Basralian Tashjian on June 27, 1986, and was a guiding support to her sons John, Gary, and Kirk and their respective spouses, Katie, Stacey and Christy. Robert will be remembered by his friends, nieces and six grandchildren, Lily, Julian, Hannah, Delaney, Dylan, and Jack for his kindness, sharp mind, and quick wit.

A wake will be held at the Basralian Funeral Home in Oradell, NJ on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 11:00am at Christ Episcopal Church in Ridgewood, NJ.
