Patrick Discenza Obituary



DISCENZA
Patrick, age 87, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on January 9, 2017. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and a parishioner of Most Holy Name R.C. Church, Garfield. He was employed by the US Postal Service for over 30 years retiring in 1988 as the Supervisor of Postal Operations at the Clifton Post Office on Paulison Avenue, and he was a member of NAPS. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julia (nee LaPlaca), a daughter, Julia Pinghera and husband Tony, four grandchildren, Lisa, Anthony, Joya, and Vinnie Pinghera, and two brothers, Joseph and wife Anna, and Nicholas and wife Geri. He is predeceased by a brother, Carmen M. Discenza. Visiting Thursday 3-8 PM. The funeral is Friday, January 13, 2017, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8:30 AM followed by a 9:30 AM mass at Most Holy Name RC Church, Garfield. Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the American Lung Association. The Discenza family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
