Genevieve Jerome Obituary

Genevieve Lembo Jerome recently died.

The daughter of Joseph and Maria Lembo, she was born in Paterson on May 9, 1919. A long-time resident of Ridgewood, she grew up in Hawthorne and graduated from Hawthorne High School. After attending Traphagen School of Design in New York, N.Y., she worked at Montgomery Ward in Manhattan. In 1945 she married. She enjoyed fashion and made clothing and accessories for her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Nina Jerome Sutcliffe and husband Robert Sutcliffe of Bangor, Maine and Kathleen Jerome and husband Reed Kelly of River Edge; her grandchildren, Lisa Sutcliffe of San Francisco, Calif., James Sutcliffe of Tucson, Ariz. and John and Eleanor Kelly of River Edge; her sisters, Josephine Anderson of Ramsey and Mary Randall of Mountville, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Homer A. Jerome; and her brother, Frank Lembo.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, in the chapel, 1 Passaic St. in Ridgewood. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601.
