I dated Richard off and on while we were at Erskine. When he picked me up at my Uncle and Aunt's house in Abbeville the first time, my Uncle Tom met him at the door with a bottle of Rebel Yell and a shotgun. Mugo carried if off just fine - he was used to being teased about being a Yankee from New Jersey.
Donna, Mugo was an absolute dear. I know you will miss him terribly, - it was much too soon to lose him.

Richard and Bob Oliver were roommates and friends of mine our freshman year at Erskine. I guess we had something in common because they were both from New Jersey and I was from Pennsylvania. I remember Richard as being very friendly and helpful. He was also a character. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. May I offer my sincerest condolences in this most difficult time.

Richard was my boyfriend our freshman year at Erskine. I consider myself very priviledged to have been his friend. All of these entries show that he never changed. He was a unique, wonderful person. I read about his death with tears in my eyes and fond memories in my heart. Donna, God bless you and all of your family.

Donna,
My name is Wyatt McDaniel. At Erskine they called me "IBM." I lived on the same hall with Mugo while we were at Erskine. Mugo was a character no one can forget. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I keep a database of our classmates and have sent a notice to those for whom I have a valid eMail. A number have written back, saddened at his passing and expressing fond memories of him.
Please know that Mugo's classmates are thinking of you during this difficult time.

Donna-
For many of us who knew Mugo well, we have not lost a musician, but the conductor of the band. What a fabulous personality and sense of humor! I am very saddened. As you could tell at our reunions, Mugo was the person everyone loved to listened to. Kathy and I will be thinking of you in the days to come. Dick Craft

Dear Donna,
Please know that so many people, some that you may not know or remember, are mourning the death of your husband. Those of us who were at Erskine with him feel as if a major light has gone out in our class. He was a such a major personality and we loved him. He will be missed so much but never, ever forgotten.

Dear Donna,
We were so saddened to hear about Mugo's death. While he may have been shortchanged on the quantity of time he had;the measure of his life is how many lives he has touched along the way. There are a handful of people that come into your world and touch your life in a dramatic fashion. People constantly pass in and out of your life but Mugo was a true friend to so many at Erskine. There was always a comfort level being around Mugo not found in many others. His kindness and his sense of humor will be missed. I hope knowing that Mugo touched so many lives in a positive way can bring you some measure of comfort.

Dear Donna,
Mugo's Erskine Family is shocked by his death. He was a character, loved by everyone and we will miss him at the reunions. I hope you'll still try to make the trip...you're part of the family too. Please know that I have many warm memories of an outspoken guy who did his best to hide his tender heart...but you could still see it! May God strengthen you and give you peace. Hope to see you at the next Erskine get together.

The word of Muggo's death passed quickly amoung his friends at Erskine College. Coming from NJ, he was quite the "stand-out" at Erskine during the early 60's. We all value his friendship and the good times. Our thoughts/prayers are with his family.

I was so sad to hear of Rick's passing, spent many a times laughing with Rick at Liberty St. As a young single mother Rick entertained my son at times until I was though with my shift. He was a stand up guy. I will never forget the times we all shared at Liberty and the Friend Rick was to all of us.

Donna, I am so sorry for your loss.
Big Rick (as he was well know) was a trip!.
When we worked together at Liberty Street Cafe , he made me laugh EVERY DAY! He had a way about him that just endeared him to your heart.
"He was a ledgend in his own mind"(as Rick himself use to say) He lived life and loved every minute of it.He did everything his way and from my point of veiw, did so without regret.
Donna I know you have many memories, and in the bad times, I hope they make you smile.
All my Love to you, Robin Cieslak

I was a friend of Rick for fifty years.During those fifty years we had at least a hundred years of laughs, and good times. He always marched to a different drummer.Bad times rolled off his back with the ease of a raindrop sliding down a window pane.Good times were absorbed like water into a sponge. He never interfered with anyones doings and always was ready to share some good times.Donna,I am so sorry for your loss.I am so sad that he is gone, but we know in our hearts that he lived life to the fullest, with a zest and zeal that many never chance. My condolences to Donna and the family.May he rest in peace.
