Thomas Silva Obituary
Thomas "Tommy" Jr., age 47 of Paterson, at rest in Paterson on March 10, 2012. Beloved son of Juana "Jennie" (nee Martinez) and Tomas "Thomas" Silva Sr. of Paterson. Loving Father of Trevor Silva. Loving fiance of Michelle C. Di Giorgio of Paterson. Dear brother of Marianne Silva-Dvorak and her husband Raymond of Paterson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and relatives in Spain. Born in Paterson, he was a life-long resident of the city. He was the Owner/Proprietor and Tattoo Artist for Dissent Tattoo, Haledon, for many years. Mr. Silva was nominated for the Russ Berrie Making a Difference Award. The murals he painted have become local landmarks in the schools and neighborhoods. None of these murals have been defaced. The murals are an ongoing source of inspiration, education, and beautification within the blighted urban environments. These murals teach young people that there are heroes who are not athletes and entertainers. These murals are now a part of the social fiber of the neighborhoods. Tommy also enjoyed playing the guitar, drawing, painting, cooking and reading. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Wednesday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Brendan R.C. Church, Clifton at 10 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. For more information, go to www.festamemorial.com

To the silvaright family Sorry for your loss I am an old friend of tommy.I was honored to have known and hung out an had great times with him he will not be forgotten and will live on in all are hearts rip my friend hang in their Trevor your pop was a great person and you will be to god bless.

To the Silva family: I was so very lucky to have known Tommy. He was kind, sweet and always upbeat. He fought for everything he wanted, didn't do anything halfway and loved 100%. Thank you Tommy, for the lobster dinners at Cafe Espanol, for the unforgettable rides on your harley, for the music, the safety & comfort and for my tattoo. My deepest condolences to your whole family and to Trevor: you are the light of his life.
