Mary Pauwels Obituary

PAUWELS - Mary Link Alfano, 91, a resident of the Golden Crest in Franklin, NH for the past three years, died there Mon., Nov. 11, 2002 following a period of failing health. She was born in East Rutherford, NJ, July 9, 1911, daughter of Frank and Tessie (Cocozzo) Link Alfano. Before moving to Tilton, NH in 1993, Mary had resided in East Rutherford, NJ for over 80 years. Prior to her marriage in 1933, Mary was a seamstress and worked in the family grocery store. She was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in East Rutherford. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles J. Pauwels who died in 1982. She was also predeceased by sisters; Flora Alfano, Flora Reo, and brothers; Nicholas and Thomas Alfano. Her family includes two sons; Charles A. and his wife Linda Pauwels of Tilton, NH and Robert A. and his wife Betty Pauwels of Franklin, NH, four grandchildren; Robert M. Pauwels, Jill Pauwels Brezenoff, Cheryl Pauwels DeBlasio and Susan Pauwels Katz, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters; Rachel DeSantis of Grand Blanc, MI, Rose Rakocyk of East Rutherford, NJ, Theresa Roos of Totowa, NJ, five brothers; Salvatore Link of Grand Island, NE, Michael Alfano of Wayne, NJ and Louis Alfano of West Brandwine, PA, Tony Alfano and wife Frances of Greenacres City, FL, Albert Alfano and wife Virginia of Albrightsville, PA, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thurs. from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Macagna-Diffily Funeral Home, 41 Ames Ave., Rutherford, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will held Friday at 10 AM in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Hackensack St. at Hoboken Road, East Rutherford, NJ. Burial will be in the George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the Resident's Fund, Golden Crest, c/o Pamela Day, 29 Baldwin St., Franklin, NH 03235.
