MARY VALERIE WALENGA FORMERLY OF CALUMET CITY Mary Valerie Walenga, age 100 years and six months, passed away early morn on September 21, 2008 due to natural causes. She was born to Joseph and Martha Sosnowski on April 20, 1908. Mary is survived by her daughters: Joan (Joseph) Giewartowski and Geraldine (Steve) Marciniak of Tampa, FL and Arlene (Douglas) Gibbon of Dunedin, FL; and her son, Raymond Walenga of Naples, FL. Preceded in death by her two husbands: John and Stanley Walenga; sister, Helen Kelly of Chicago, IL; brother, Raymond Sosnowski of Berwyn, IL; as well as her son, James John (Judy) Walenga of Riverside, CA. Mary had six grandchildren: Joel and Jeff Giewartowski of Tampa, FL, Joy (Jeffrey) Modica of Boise, ID, Jill (Daniel) Hickey of Naples, FL, Candis Mary (William) Powell of Chicago, IL and Darren Walenga of Riverside, CA. Mary was also blessed with four beautiful great-grandchildren: Haley and Joseph Hickey of Naples, FL and April and Amber Modica of Boise, ID; in addition to two nieces, two cousins and numerous great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, September 26, 2008 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. at Hennessy-Nowak Funeral Home, 400 Pulaski Road, Calumet City, IL. A brief visitation will be held Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 768 Lincoln Ave., Calumet City, IL. The funeral will proceed to Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL (at the intersections of Burnham Ave. and Michigan City Road). Before passing, many of Mary's loved ones gathered to celebrate her Centennial Birthday. All who knew her loved her very much. We will miss her so. Rest in peace and go with God, Mary.
