ALGONQUIN - Otto A. Maicke, 82, of Algonquin, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at Kindred-Sycamore Hospital.
He was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Hobart, Ind., to Edward and Augusta (Egert) Maicke. On May 1, 1954, he married Betty Rosenthal.
He had been employed as a custodian at Crystal Lake South High School. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Algonquin.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William (Carla) of Bloomington; a daughter, Jean (William) Herfel of Fox River Grove; and four grandchildren, Steven and Jeremy Maicke, and Cassandre and Eric Herfel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Herman and Arthur; and four sisters, Linda Hallead, Caroline Maicke, Mildred Rumics and Lorraine Kampert.
The visitation will be from 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, until the memorial service at 1 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Algonquin, 109 Washington St., Algonquin. The Rev. Arn Schaper will officiate.
Burial will be private in Algonquin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
