MATTHEW FRIEDMAN Obituary

FRIEDMAN--Matthew, 51, of Cazenovia, NY, died at home January 29 of complications from Myotonic Dystrophy. Born in NYC, he attended Friends Seminary, Bronx High School of Science, Hampshire College, and University of Virginia Law School. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Murphy, sister Susannah Vickers and mother Peggy Friedman. Donations may be made to CAVAC, 106 Nelson St., Cazenovia, NY 13035.

I only received this shocking news today and am deeply saddened by it. Matt was my housemate at UVA Law and one of my best friends there. I have always regretted that we did not remain in closer touch and I had no idea he had been ill. I loved Matt for his wit, cleverness, and style. He inspired me in ways I'm not sure he ever knew and I am feeling a tremendous sense of loss to know he is gone. He has left us too soon.

Matt, I remember meeting you and Yvonne when Rory was just a hope and a prayer. I was so happy when I learned that your family had moved upstate and made that dream come true as well. I am so saddened by your early death and send much love to Yvonne and Rory.
