A terrible loss for all who knew him. Wendy's right: no family gathering will feel right without him (and his cooking!). I want everyone to know how cheerfully he managed to live his life in the face of a very difficult heart condition he had to get up and face every day, for so long now. When he got the chance for a new lease on life via a transplant, he bravely took it. I am proud to have called him my brother-in-law and he seriously does leave a giant-sized hole in the world now that he has left us. I know he is at peace now, but what will we do without him? His passing has taken a good portion of the wind out of our sails. I can only say I'm grateful for the gifts he gave my sister, for the beautiful family & home he built with her, for the jokes, the laughter, the fun, the support, the boat rides, and even the verbal sparring we engaged in over the years. ;-) He kept us all on our toes, and I will miss him so very much. Please do pray for my sister Robin, especially, facing the rest of her life now without her cohort by her side. This was NOT the plan. It takes our breath away. Thank you, everyone, for all your condolences, messages, thoughts and stories. They mean so much to us at this time. Gary was a colorful, vibrant man, and I'm sure we all have lots of great memories of him to cherish and share. Love hearing them! ☺

Gary entered my life when I was 14 or 15 when my sister brought home a new boyfriend. He brought a bottle of a Diet Coke and a backgammon game to our house it seems like almost every night. I learned he doesn't lose...at any game.....and he loves family. I am thankful he became part of my family and I will miss him terribly. A great friend, brother-in-law and amazingly loving uncle to my kids. Anyone who didn't get a chance to be a part of Gary's life missed out on something wonderful. He will be missed.
