PETER MELTZER Obituary
September 1, 1942 - July 16, 2017 at his home following a brief illness. Mark Di Giulio, his life partner of 44 years and spouse of five, his brother James Meltzer and partner Cynthia Amidon, his niece Alexandra Goldman and nephew Zachary Green, and their families survive him. Peter was a graduate of PS 6, Fieldston School 1960, NYU College of Arts and Sciences, Phi Beta Kappa Society and NYU Law School. He was an Assistant Legal Counsel at Random House, Professional Photographer, Co-founder and Restaurateur with Mark Di Giulio of the Restaurants Quatorze and Quatorze Bis. His clarity of heart was unparalleled. He led a life of integrity and excellence. Peter was a passionate collector and traveler. He was indeed a singular man. Memorial Service 11:00am Thursday, July 20, 2017, Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Ave and 81st Street. In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Peter's name, 1275 York Ave, New York, NY 10065.

Dear Mark and Jim, please accept my condolences at this sad time. As you know, Peter was one of my earliest friendships from our days together as classmates at P.S. 6 through our teen years, and then later when my wife Nancy and I would enjoy seeing him at Quatorze. We always had a wonderful time reminiscing together. Our deepest sympathy to both of you.

So sorry to hear of Peter's passing. I have wonderful memories of shared childhood events with the entire Meltzer family, and of course our close friendship through high school. I did see Peter periodically at Quatorze Bis and his earlier restaurants; he was always the consummate host. My condolences.
