Chairman and Founder of the Carlton Group, passed away peacefully at home, age 62, after a courageous battle with gastric cancer on September 21, 2018. Howard is survived by his wife Jennifer Bayer Michaels, his daughters Alexandra and Reese and his sons David, Josh and Sam. Howard was a highly respected business leader, working his way up from sales at his father's Long Island carpet store to building one of the premiere real estate private equity firms completing over $140 billion of real estate transactions since inception. He relished the opportunity to tackle the most complicated deals, arranging capital for numerous high profile transactions. Even more than his business, his family was at the center of his world -- whether it was family vacations, watching his girls swim competitively, play soccer or watching a movie and arguing politics with his 3 boys. He was a graduate of American University with a BA in Business Administration and was involved in numerous charities including MyFace, New York Weil Cornell Medical Center, Mt. Sinai Medical Center and the Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces. Funeral services will be held at Central Synagogue on Sunday, September 23rd at 12pm.
