JEAN STEINBERG Obituary
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our mother Jean Steinberg who recently celebrated her 100th birthday on July 3rd and passed away peacefully at home at 7:37am on July 20th, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Meyer "Mike" Steinberg with whom she shared an extraordinary life in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida. Together they raised four daughters, Susan Zises Green, Bonnie Englebardt Lautenberg (the late Hank Englebardt, the late Senator Frank R. Lautenberg), Carol Weisman (Michael), Lois Robbins Zaro (Andrew). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grand- children. Jean and Mike were active members of Congregation Sons of Israel in Woodmere, Park Avenue Synagogue in New York, UJA Federation, Hadassah and the SLE Lupus Foundation. Jean will be lovingly remembered as she opened her homes for so many charitable causes and spent many years teaching the choreography and dancing in shows as fundraisers for her synagogue, PTA and Hadassah. She had a great Joie de Vivre, was always the best joke teller and the life of the party. She was a great lover of the New York City and Palm Beach cultural communities. She enjoyed playing golf and was a consummate Bridge, mah jong and canasta player. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 23rd at 11am at Central Synagogue on Lexington Avenue and 55th Street in New York City.

I just learned the other day about Aunt Jean-I still remember the house on Addison Street and how I would be there as a kid with my mother, Jean and Uncle Mike-it seems like yesterday-time goes too quickly-my most heartfelt and sincere condolences.

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF THE LOSS OF JEAN STEINBERG, A WONDERFUL MOTHER GRANDMOTHER AND ALL.THERE ARE PROBABLY FEW LEFT WHO WERE AT HER WEDDING. WHEN WE MOVED TO L.I IN 1964 WE SPENT MANY SUNDAY AFTERNOONS AT ADDISON ST.WITH JEAN, MIKE AND THE GIRLS. JEAN WAS THE LIFE OF THE GROUP AND A GRACIOUS HOSTESS. SHE WAS ALWAYS INVOLVED WITH ORGANIZATIONS, BUT MOSTLY SHE WAS THE DEAREST WIFE AND MOTHER. MAY SHE BE A "GUTTE BETTER" IN THE HEAVENS ABOVE FOR ALL HER LOVED ONES.

My sincerest condolences to the Steinberg girls on the loss of a great lady. I had great admiration for her as well as your Dad. I purchased their home
where you all grew up and where I raised my children. We all loved 826 Addison Street, a house that was built by very special people. Hold on to your wonderful memories!!

She was a beautiful woman inside and out and had the distiction of knowing her for most of my life.
I am saddened by her death and will always admire her diginity, grace and philanthropic efforts. Jean and Mike were a dynamite couple whio made a difference!!
