We would like to express our sincere condolences on the death of mr. Donald Stone. It is a pity that we never met mr. Stone. We know from our relatives who did meet mr Stone that he was a very nice and warm person. We wish his wife mrs. Jean Stone and his children the strength they need to bear this loss. Don was a warm and caring friend who will be missed. Our many discussions about the state of the financial markets and many rounds of golf were enlightening and full of fond memories. Don was special and contributed much. It was a privilege to be his friend. Bob Farrell of Merrill Lynch

Mr. Stone brought an incredible air of class and professionalism to the Floor of the Exchange during what I consider to be the heyday of the NYSE. He was a kind mentor, a man of immense patience with us new brokers, and just a true gentleman. He'll be missed and fondly remembered by many.

I remember Donald Stone from meetings of a US Congress chartered National Market System committee meetings. I was just a young IBM manager attending these meetings, as an observer but "Don Stone" was so nice to me and treated me so graciously. Then he invited me for lunch at the NY Stock Exchange. I was the software development manager for the IBM "Securities Order Matching" product. Robert Katz-Airmont NY
