Alan mentored me while I was at Brooklyn Law School in the late 80s. He was a golden man, brilliant and big-hearted.

Alan was a friend, mentor, scholar, gentleman, and an inspiration. We had many wonderful conversations at Lake George during breaks at Copyright Society meetings and later in New York. He was admired by countless copyright lawyers. Condolences to his family. May his memory be a blessing.

Alan was a mentor and colleague. He also served as mediator in a difficult case on which I was counsel, drawing it to a successful resolution, with his trademark (he would approve the use of the word) grace and wit. We will miss him and honor his memory.

Alan mentored me when I took his Copyright Law class in the LL.M program at NYU School of Law. He advised me as I considered various career paths, and took me in as an associate at his firm, Colton, Weissberg, Hartnick, Yamin and Sheresky.
Giving me that opportunity changed my career. He was a great lawyer, generous with his advice to a young lawyer, and he taught me many lessons that I carry to this day. He was a true scholar and also a practical and effective counselora rare combinationas well as an extremely nice man.
Alan encouraged me to join the Copyright Society and introduced me to many great copyright lawyers there including his close friends, Alan Latman and Stanley Rothenberg, two other luminaries of the copyright bar.
Alan set a brilliant example for myself and many others. He will be deeply missed.
