Ellen was not only a wonderful writer, she was also generous in her friendship and helpfulness to other writers including me.
She was a fighter for writers' rights --a
long-time member of our Writers Guild of America who helped us win battles with
greedy producers. In labor wars Ellen could give us the power of a Jimmy Hoffa combined with the class and style of Katherine Hepburn. I haven't seen her for a while but I will miss her.
