ESTELLE HOROWITZ Obituary
July 31, 1919 - May 13, 2016. Treasured mother of Janice Horowitz Bookstaber and Bert Horowitz, grandmother to Michael and Daniel Horowitz and Anna Bookstaber. Beloved and admired for her strength, compassion and devotion to educators' rights. Estelle was Professor of Economics at Pratt Institute, founding President of its teacher's union and head of the United Federation of College Teachers. Our bright light of inspiration and fortitude, Estelle led with her intellectual acumen, ethics and heart. She survived her husband Sidney, and siblings Jules, Morris, Sidney, Harry, and Anne. Estelle passed away peacefully in her home.

I'm so sorry about this terrible loss. I give my complete condolences and love to you're family. This is a terrible time for all of those that Estelle has encountered. I was a student of Estelle's and I wish I could have thanked her one more time. She was a remarkable young lady and really influenced me deeply

With love and gratitude to Estelle. The first time I met her in the Pratt cafeteria, she was standing and plucked a french fry from my plate and said, "You'll get used to me." xo

My deepest condolonces to the family. In this time of grieving I encourage all to look to God and his word for hope. John 5:25 gives us hope that we will see Estelle again.
