JEROME STERN Obituary
died peacefully on March 30th, 2017, at age 93. It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Jerome (Jerry) Stern. We call you husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and best friend. You were, and always will be, an inspiration to everyone you touched. You were an early activist for Soviet Jewry, a pioneer in political advocacy for Israel, a founder and longtime supporter of The Israel Museum, New Museum, and Studio Museum Harlem. You were a patron of the arts and a mentor to young artists. An early supporter of the Israel Tennis Centers, Bar-Ilan University, and Ohr Torah Stone amongst many other philanthropic passions; a proud officer of Lincoln Square Synagogue and founder of the Hampton Synagogue. Most of all you had a contagious enthusiasm for life and for the living. You will be in our hearts and minds always. With all our love, Ellen, Avi, Jane and Don, Ronnie and Ralou, David and Haley, Noah, Layla, Jonathan, Joshua, Eric, Michael, Ronit, Meital, Dean and Dana, Stav, Romiel, Geoffrey and Orna, Charles and Lauri, Adam, Ari, Daniel, Abigail, Lynda and Scott, Jordan. The funeral service will be held at Lincoln Square Synagogue, 180 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10023, on Sunday, April 2nd, at 12:30pm promptly.

Jerome was one of the finest men I have ever met. I feel close to Jerome right now because I am lucky enough to be spending some time in Telluride with his precious daughter, Lynda, who I am blessed to have as my daughter-in-law and his very special granddaughter, Abigail, with her loving husband , Tanner. My son, Scott, just recently mentioned to me how much he misses Jerome- as we all do....

Jerry will always have a special place in my heart. When I was adopted, it was Jerry, who brought me home from the hospital. Jerry, my father, Eddie always said how our lives connected; and that they did! To the entire Stern family, Ron and I express our extreme condolences to the family of a man who touched so many lives in so many ways. Our thoughts are with you all.
