EDWIN HELLER Obituary

HELLER--Edwin "Ed,"

born December 8, 1929, died from complications resulting from a hip fracture on July 2, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY York, to Joseph S. and Gizela Heller (nee Shlumper), he attended Cornell University (B.A.) and Harvard Law School (LL.B). After serving in the United States Army from 1954-1956, Ed taught law at Harvard University from 1956-1957, and then joined the Manhattan law firm of Fried Frank, where he became a corporate partner, and was known for his keen intellect and wit. During his law career, Ed resided in Sands Point, NY with his beloved wife of 56 years, Dorothy Heller (nee Killgrew). Following his retirement in 1996, Ed and Dorothy relocated to Boca Raton, FL, to spend valuable time with their grandchildren. Dorothy passed away from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2014, a loss consoled by memories of their many happy years together. Ed is survived by his daughter, Dr. Dana A. Heller (Galina Tsoy), Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Eastern Michigan University, his son, William P. Heller, Esq. (Allison), a partner in the firm of Akerman LLP and Chair of the firm's National Consumer Finance Litigation and Compliance Practice Group, and his three grandchildren, Ryan, Samantha, and Lindsey. The family requests that memorial gifts be designated to Mayo Clinic, Dept. of Development, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, FL 32224, by phone or online: 1-855-852-8129, www.mayoclinic.org/give
