DAVID GROVE Obituary

GROVE--David L.

Passed away in his home in Armonk, NY on July 21, 2016 at the age of 98, surrounded by those who loved him. Born and raised in the Boston area, he earned a BA and doctorate in economics from Harvard University. He served in the Office of Strategic Services during WWII and later as an economist for the Federal Reserve, traveling throughout Latin America and Southeast Asia. He was chief economist and VP of Bank of America from 1952-1964 and the same for IBM (Corporate in New York) from 1966-1978. Advising five United States Presidents, he also served on Time magazine's Board of Economists and was a director on the boards of Aetna, Internorth, Inc. and the New York Medical College. He authored many books on central banking and international economics. David's long-time love of growing orchids started in the 1960s and he was active in the American Orchid Society until his death. He was one of the most respected judges in the American Orchid Society and was the author of a major volume on the orchid genera vanda. David's wife of 66 years, Lois Pawlowski Grove, died in 2008. He is survived by his second wife Elzbieta Buzek- Grove and his daughter Carolyn Grove Nuzzi.
