BRIGITTE PETTIT Obituary
January 31, 1934 - December 15, 2016. Brigitte E. Pettit passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 15, 2016. Born in Germany she immigrated to New York City in 1957 and embraced the city in every way. A joyful, incredibly fashionable and beautiful person she worked at Time Life and later became a fashion consultant running her own business for over 20 years. She married Jeffrey Pettit in 1965 and had twin daughters. She had a great love for friends and family, design, fashion, travelling, walking, bird watching and putting together beautiful cocktail and dinner parties. She loved New York City. Survived by her husband of 51 years, Jeffrey Pettit, her daughters, Priscilla and Jennifer Pettit, her sons-in-law Paul Burton and Knight Landesman, and her three grandsons, James Burton, William Burton and Otto Landesman, she will be immensely missed by her many friends and her family who loved her dearly. New York City is a little less bright with her loss. In lieu of flowers, because of her great love of Central Park her family asks kindly that memorial donations be made to The Women's Committee at The Central Park Conservancy.

I was very sad and surprised to learn of Brigitte's death. Her energy seemed inexhausible. Certainly her generosity was. My recent 15 years in New York City would have been immeasurably diminished without the friendship of Brigitte and Jeff. I'm sure I am not alone in that feeling.

I am so sad to hear of Brigitte's passing. She was such a special part of the 8 years that I spent in New York. We spent two or three days a week together for years, mostly working in her office but also sipping coffee, dining on her homemade soup, going to museums and even taking a couple of trips together. She treated me like family and I will miss her very much. All my love to her family.
