I have wonderful memories being a post-doc at Joe Lampen's lab and visiting his home where I received Miriam's gracious hospitality. May god bless her soul.

Dick & Peter,
I entered Joe and Miriam's life as a graduate student at the Institute, uncertain about my abilities and unsure of my environment among all the faculty, visiting scientists and the other students. Your dad was encouraging and helpful, and I came to love him as a father. Your mom was ever so gracious and welcoming, making me feel at home and bringing me and Joe's other students into their life and circle. Both of your parents were formative in my life and I am better for having known and been befriended by them. As my career begins to sunset, I find myself reflecting back on those days at Rutgers and the parties and dinners at your home with warm and happy memories.

Dick, Peter, and families,
I first met your Mom at something RPS parents did in 1965. She was a force to be reckoned with then and at every time subsequently that I was with her. She subtly set the tone and raised the bar - for how parents navigated , how children should learn and grow and how as adults we acted caring and responsibly. Many years and many stories have made an indelible impression. She will be sorely missed but much remembered as we reflect upon her example that shaped who we became. My heartfelt sympathy. Nina Bell

To Dick and Peter.....I was so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. Over the past thirty years, it was enjoyable getting to know her better through our mutual membership in The Study Club of New Brunswick. She will be greatly missed.
With deepest sympathy,

Miriam was a founding member of the Manor Readers Book Club, started in Highland Park in the 1950's which I joined in the sixties. She and I so enjoyed the exchange of opinions and ideas each month. Our club continues to meet virtually, and we will miss her very much.
