Helen Scott

Helen Scott was born April 20,1929 in South River, New Jersey, daughter of the late William and Dollie Mickey. She departed this life on March 10, 2026, at the age of 96, one month short of 97.

She grew up in Keyport, N.J. as the oldest of 4 children graduating from South River High School.

Through high school and later she loved to sing and once performed on WLIB radio station.

Helen married William Scott on September 2, 1950, settling in New Brunswick, NJ. before moving to Somerset, NJ in 1961, where she lived the rest of her life.

She worked for Johnson and Johnson during the 1950's before beginning work for the Rutgers University Facilities department where she retired from in 1993.

Helen was very active in her community, singing with the Franklin Township Swinging Singing Seniors and traveling on many trips with the Parkside Seniors club.

Helen dedicated her life to her family, always having an open home for family and friends alike for summer cookouts, holiday dinners, or impromptu gatherings before Rutgers home football games.

Helen was predeceased by brothers Richard Mickey of Colonia, NJ, Thomas Mickey of Highland Park, NJ and sister Dorothy Mayo of Highland Park, NJ.

She is survived by son William Scott of Somerset, NJ and daughters Wendy Scott and Wanda Scott both of Franklin Park, NJ., and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

All services will be held at Sharon Baptist Church, 25 Howard Street, New Brunswick, NJ beginning at 10am.
