Eddy Wei

Eddy Wei, 63, of Piscataway, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on March 16, 2026.

Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Eddy immigrated to the United States in 1974 with his family. They initially settled in Fords, later moving to Metuchen, and eventually to Edison, New Jersey. Eddy attended East Brunswick Vocational and Technical School, graduating in 1981.

Following high school, Eddy held a variety of positions before finding his long-term career at Rutgers University, where he worked as a dedicated groundskeeper. He remained a valued member of the Rutgers community until his retirement in 2022.

Eddy had a deep love for sports and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, traveling to see them play both in Dallas and at MetLife Stadium. He was also an avid New York Mets fan and enjoyed attending games in his younger years.

A man of strong faith, Eddy was actively involved with the Cornerstone Chinese Christian Church in Somerset, New Jersey. He cherished the friendships he built there, participating in church gatherings, barbecues, and group trips to New York City.

Above all, Eddy treasured time spent with his family. He adored his daughter, Monica, and found great joy in being a grandfather to Jeremiah, with whom he shared many special moments.

Eddy is survived by his beloved daughter, Monica Wei; his loving grandson, Jeremiah Taveras; and his two brothers, Tony Wei and William Wei.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Gleason Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick, New Jersey. A funeral service will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial and graveside committal services will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.
