Michael and I lived on the same dorm floor freshman year at Union College. He was the quiet, doe-eyed funny guy ("my mother cooks, sure: take-out Chinese or Italian"). We didn't stay in touch, but I never forgot him. His face popped right back into my mind as soon as I heard this saddest news. From reading these pages, he clearly became the great individual and professional he promised to be all those years back. I send my sincerest sympathy to all of you in his family. He was memorable.

There are no words which can express the pain we feel concerning the loss of Michael. His is a great loss, to his family and to the world. We will always remember him at happy occasions, his wedding and his brother Robert's wedding...he was loved by his family and his colleagues...too brief a life but a great legacy.

It seems inappropriate for someone who only met Michael twice to leave a remembrance, but maybe it's a testament to the quality of the man. I met Michael when he was interviewing for a Fellowship position and again at a conference. He was such an easy person to talk to and had a truely unique sense of humor. He was truely a gentle soul. My condolences.

I had the distinct honor of working with Michael during his fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital. I remember his as one of the most even-keeled, generous, and dedicated fellows that I have ever worked with. He was truly unique in his patience and wonderful sense of humor. His dedication to his wife and children was immense. I will miss very much his great demeanor, his special outlook, and his unique disposition. My most sincere sympathies go out to Tara, Mason, Riley, and Presley. You will all be in my prayers during this unimaginably difficult period.

Dear Grauer family,
I knew Dr. Grauer while he was at BGSMC. He was a great radiologist and was so kind to patients and we all loved him. He was a very dedicated man and he always talked about his family, you were most important to him. He always treated the techs and nurses with respect and they always had fun. I will miss him and you are in my prayers and thoughts daily.

I have many memories of residency together with Michael. We shared many commuting trips together from the East side to St. Luke's - Roosevelt, during which we talked about all sorts of things. Another fond memory is Michael and Tara at our 2000 New Year's party. Michael was a model of goodwill, humor and humility. Such shocking, sad news to hear of this. We will miss Michael who remains in our fond memories. Sincerest sympathy from my family.

Dr. Grauer was one of my favorite Interventional Radiologists to work with at Good Samaritan. He had a great sense of humor and like to play music in the procedure rooms. He also liked to play the "guess the artist" game during the slower, low stress days. My favorite memory of him was after an all nighter of emergent cases that we didn't finish until 6:30am the next day and he took the tech and me out for breakfast before we had to go back to work and start another day. He was kind, generous and loved his wife and family tremendously. After he left Good Sam, his name was still uttered frequently during the course of a day "Remember when Grauer did....". I will miss him. The medical community has lost a great Radiologist. But more importantly my thoughts and prayers go out to his family for the loss of a wonderful father, husband and man. Sincerely,
Jill Minor-Maziarz

Dr Grauer was a wonderful man and a great radiologist. I had the opportunity to work with him the last year at BTMC and he could always make us laugh as he told some story about his family or life. He would always greet his patients with the words "Dr Grauer here." and it always put a smile on my face. He will be greatly missed here at BTMC. I offer my deepest sympathy and prayers for his family. I am so sorry for his loss.

I was shocked to learn of Dr.Grauer's passing. We had such pleasant chats whenever I brought a patient to his department at Banner Thunderbird..about things we had in common-family, Israel, New York- but mostly about his kids. You walked away from a conversation with Dr. Grauer thinking "What a nice guy!". My sympathies to you all. He will be missed.

I was truly saddened to hear of the passing of my good friend Michael. Michael and I grew up together from age 12. I spent so many days at the Grauer's home that I truly felt they were my 2nd family. Michael and I went to Friends together, and as so many friendships, we spoke less and less as our careers and families dominated our lives. However, I never forgot ,and will never forget all our great times and how Michael helped shape my life. I will always have a special place in my heart for one of my truly special friends of my early life. Michael will be missed deeply, and I wish the family all my best during this most difficult time.
